FROM THE DESK OF JAMES PERRY

July was so incredible that I just had to share. Both my wife and I had unbelievable successes. In early July, my colleagues at the Fair Housing Action Center and I, settled a class action lawsuit awarding more than half of a billion dollars to Katrina affected families still attempting to rebuild. With the sixth anniversary of Katrina right around the corner, the settlement is a healthy shot in the arm for New Orleans' recovery. I included a few media links about the settlement below my signature line.

Melissa, hosted the nationally broadcasted Rachel Maddow show during the last week of July. The ratings were through the roof! She explained the debt-ceiling crisis, explored America's racial wealth gap and explained why the tea party is out to lunch. I couldn't have been more proud. Below, you'll find a few links to the show.

We both work hard everyday to make our neighborhood, City, State and Country better. But seeing years of hard work all come together at once, was an awe inspiring crescendo.
