May 26th – 29th                 Tuesday - Friday                   Great Basin National Park (Nevada)/Wheeler Peak 

 

Wheeler Peak (13,063) is a 8.6 mile round trip day hike with 2900 elevation gain / class 2. I will also be doing a 13.1 overnight loop to 2 beautiful lakes with 3290 gain and a spur trail up to Pyramid Peak (11,926).  Great Basin is a free entrance national park and campsites are $10 a night. The park also has an amazing cave with tours for 10 bucks. Temperature averages in the park for May are 66 / 40 with 1.1 inch / 7 days of precipitation for the month. The park boasts some of the darkest skies in America, first quarter moon is on the 25th.
