Upcoming Events:
Join your friends at the American Alpine Club Southwest Section for some
good times. More events always coming your way soon...
August 16-24: Tuolumne Meadows Climb-Unity and Stewardship Week
Join the American Alpine Club and the National Park Service for a week of
climbing and stewardship in the beautiful Tuolumne Meadows in the Yosemite
High-Country. This is a low key event intended to provide some free camping
for members and friends and an opportunity to get your hands dirty and give
back to the Park. We will be working with the Yosemite Climbing Rangers as
well as the Yosemite Climbing Stewards to get some important high-country
projects completed and we'll be able to get in a TON of great climbing while
we're at it.
There will be a free pizza dinner for all volunteers held at the Mobil
Station in Lee Vining on the night of Friday, August 23. The deal is we
work 6 hours for every 2 nights of camping. We will work out a project
schedule that will get everyone involved. Last year we had some surprise
guest speakers and a self-rescue clinic that was free for volunteers--we'll
be trying to organize something similar for this year as well. On days
we're not volunteering, the park is yours to climb in.
Come prepared with everything you need--climbing gear, camping gear, food,
etc. The AAC will provide a cooler (or two or three) of beer and the
aforementioned pizza dinner on the 23rd. Camping information will be handed
out to registered participants before the event, along with passes to enter
the park.
