[SSD Populace] Amtgard, Saturday 10/26/13

This is your midweek reminder that Amtgard will occur starting at 1pm at
Santa Rosa Park.  This weekend we have our obligatory, corpora mandated
Crown Qualification tournaments.  I'm planning on showing up around noon to
start trying to streamline the process and make this go as quickly and
smoothly as possible.
(Note, you are welcome to enter items into the Arts & Science portion of
the tournament, even if you're not qualifying for office).
Entrants should include a card with your entry that denotes:
Item #______  (leave blank so we can assign it a number)
Category:
Sub Category: (if applicable)
Description: (makes sure to include all ingredients for food/beverage
entries. or special notes that you might help the judges, e.g. made my own
paper, grew my own coconuts, tooled leather while hanging upside down)

The fighting tournament will start around 2pm.  Make sure you sign in as
soon as possible so we can build the brackets.  Signing up enters you in
all fighting brackets, but you may forfeit your fight if you don't feel
like fighting in a particular category (though, I recommend you participate
in all of them, at least for the sake of experience).

Also, we have Westmarch Elections this weekend as well.  All voting members
will vote on the following candidates for Kingdom office:

And, finally, I have contacted a foam manufacture in Sylmar, CA that sells
sheets of plank foam (those nifty things a bunch of our shields are made
from).
A sheet of 2#, 3" thick foam runs $115.00 before tax, and will make
approximately 4 full sized medium shields, with a few (non-round) small
shield pieces remaining.  This puts the cost of a medium shield blank
between $30 and $35 depending on taxes (lower if anyone wants to buy the
small shield blank pieces).  So if you're interested in getting a plank
foam shield base of your very own, let me know you're interested so we can
put in an order.
