[Kreweoftruth] Then exactly why are we paying our taxes and fees?

On the one hand, I suppose there is something to be said that the City is admitting it is not collecting taxes and fees owed by citizens.


But it doesn't make me feel any better that SO MUCH is going uncollected (remember the $91 million in uncollected parking tickets?) or that it appears those with connections get a free ride. This recent story, uncovered by WVUE, truly bugs me...not just because of the disappointment it causes with elected officials, but because I pay my bills on time every month; I pay my parking tickets in fear. Plus since when did it become "allowable" not to pay your taxes or fines/fees because you thought they were "unconstitutional"? Don't people go to jail for non-payment?



So it begs the question...should we all just stop paying? it doesn't appear anything would happen to us...
