Dawn Collins
Time: August 26, 2011 all day
Location: Your Lovely Home
Organized By: Camille Moran and Dawn Collins
Event Description:
In 1920, after over three-quarters of a century of struggle and activism, a woman's right to vote was finally secured under the 19th Amendment. That victory is recognized nationally on August 26, Women's Equality Day. Let's celebrate that day together!
All across the state of Louisiana and the nation, women will be hosting house meetings in celebration of where we've come, where we are, and where we are striving to be.
If you would like to attend or host one of these events on August 26, please click this link: http://bit.ly/womensequalityla
This effort is being coordinated by United for Equality. United for Equality is the parent sponsoring organization for H. J. Res. 47, a national resolution to remove the unjustly imposed time limit on the Equal Rights Amendment. The ERA simply states that women and men are equal. It needs only three more states to be ratified. Accepting the erroneous time limit placed on its ratification will force women to start over - needing 38 states instead of just 3.

Let us not forget: There is still much work to do in the fight for gender equity. Let's start by joining in celebration! Please RSVP by August 13th.
