A lot has happened in the past week as it relates to the Lake Fire and the San Gorgonio Wilderness. Visitor Centers are open, as are established campsites, but ALL Wilderness Trails are still closed.

> Many of you have been reading the information sites about the fire, the current Lake fire is almost contained. BAER teams are making recommendations about the trails and what can be done and how soon.  Things are moving along quickly and by next week we should know more.

The campgrounds and org camps are open as well as Barton Flats Visitor Center – Last Friday  we were told we could open the visitor center again.  Jean Rogers, Kristie Pat Peters and Jan Gudgel kept pretty busy with the public coming in asking about hiking outside of the closed areas, and other general information.  The campgrounds although open had very few people in them.  Next weekend we will start the Greyback Amphitheater and Heart Bar Programs.

> 7/18 – Big Falls Trail work,  sign up for this at Trail work Saturday on the calendar.  You will be fixing a trail that is overused and needs shoring up and covering graffiti.  There are also a few posts that need to be put in.  Should be fun and different type of work.  All skill levels welcome.  Meet at Big Falls Parking area at 8 am.

> 7/18 – 7/19 Trailhead monitoring Momyer and Vivian.

> 7/18 Smokey for Greyback and Heart Bar Programs Saturday .

> Trailhead closure at Momyer and Forest Falls has been a hot spot of activity for volunteers.  We still continue to monitor these trailheads to divert people off the wilderness trails.

> The Falls area has benefited from having so many volunteers – lots of trail repair and graffiti coverup. In addition to some new sign posts for the trailhead.
