The California Department of Water Resources (DWR) is planning a multi-year dam remediation project at Lake Perris, adjacent to the Big Rock climbing area outside of Riverside, California. This project is needed to ensure seismic stability of the Lake Perris dam. The Access Fund and Southern California Mountaineers Association have met with DWR and asked for guarantees that the Big Rock climbing area not be damaged by the construction activities and that climber access to Big Rock be maintained throughout the term of this multi-year project. Thus far, DWR has offered no such assurances and plans to begin work on this project very soon. 

We need your help! Please let DWR know that Big Rock is a unique and irreplaceable resource to climbers and that loss of this area is unacceptable.
