Discovery Schools to Hold Open Houses for Kenner Discovery and Dr. John Ochsner Discovery Health Sciences Academies

Families can also learn about Discovery’s hybrid virtual program, DiscoveryFlex, at any Open House

Discovery Schools will host a series of open houses this fall and winter for prospective students and families at Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy (KDHSA) and Dr. John Ochsner Discovery Health Sciences Academy (DJOD). Discovery Schools are open-enrollment, high-performing public charter schools offering a rigorous curriculum with a focus on health and sciences.
The Open House for Kenner Discovery’s middle/high grades (5th-12th) will be on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at 5:30 pm at its Loyola/Vintage Campus, 3837 Loyola Drive in Kenner. The Open House for Kenner Discovery’s lower grades (PK-4th) will be on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at 5:30 pm  at its Maine Campus, 2504 Maine Avenue in Metairie.                                                                                                        
The Open House for Dr. John Ochsner Discovery (grades PK-8th) will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at 5:30 pm at DJOD, 1108 Shrewsbury Road, in Jefferson.  

At any Discovery Open House, families will also have the opportunity to learn about DiscoveryFlex, one of Louisiana’s first hybrid virtual schools. DiscoveryFlex allows students to adapt their school schedules with a blend of online and on-campus learning. This innovative model is in partnership with Ochsner and accepts students from across Louisiana.

Founded in 2013 in Jefferson Parish, Discovery Schools has grown into a high-demand, award-winning charter network serving more than 3,100 students across four schools: Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy, Dr. John Ochsner Discovery Health Sciences Academy, Baton Rouge Ochsner Discovery, and DiscoveryFlex. All Jefferson Parish residents are eligible to apply to Kenner Discovery and Dr. John Ochsner Discovery. Admission is open-enrollment and does not require testing.
