Kenner Discovery Students to Perform at Carnegie Hall with Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestras
Kenner, LA – Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy (KDHSA) proudly announces that two of its talented students, Adi Mohare and Melody Bogen, have been selected to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City this June as part of the Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestras’ (GNOYO) 30th Anniversary Summer Tour.
Adi Mohare, a graduating senior from the Class of 2025 and recipient of a music scholarship to Loyola University’s College of Music and Media, will perform on percussion. Melody Bogen, a rising 9th grader in the Class of 2029, will play the cello. These exceptional Swamp Owls earned their spots through a competitive audition process and will represent Kenner Discovery on one of the world’s most prestigious stages.
“We are so proud of Adi and Melody for earning this incredible opportunity,” said Patty Glaser, CEO of Discovery Schools. “Their dedication to music and the arts reflects the high standard of excellence we foster at Kenner Discovery. This is not just a personal achievement for them, but a celebration for our entire school community.”
Kenner Discovery is the only public school in Jefferson Parish that offers a comprehensive strings program—an investment in the arts that continues to deliver extraordinary opportunities for its students. Middle School Music Teacher Nicole Lawnicki and High School Music Teacher Ronald Totora have played key roles in guiding these young musicians toward this milestone moment.
More than 60 student musicians from across the region will perform on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage. This tour not only marks the 30th anniversary of GNOYO but also commemorates 20 years since Hurricane Katrina—highlighting the resilience and artistic spirit of New Orleans youth.
Locals can support GNOYO and its young musicians, including Adi and Melody, by attending pre-tour performances in the Greater New Orleans area:

About Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestras
The award-winning Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestras (GNOYO) was founded in 1994 by a group of parents, interested Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra musicians, and local music teachers to provide school-age musicians from diverse backgrounds in the Greater New Orleans region an opportunity to participate in a high-quality, full orchestra program. In addition to giving regular performances throughout the year, GNOYO has performed at Carnegie Hall, a five-city tour in France, and in numerous collaborations with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra and the New Orleans Ballet Association.
