13 NOMMA Cadets Earn

Certificates of Technical Studies in Logistics

from Delgado Community College

Thirteen cadets from the New Orleans Military and Maritime Academy (NOMMA) have earned a Certificate of Technical Studies (CTS) in Logistics through Delgado Community College, marking a significant achievement in their academic and career pathways, announced Principal Alexis Long.

Those earning the CTS are Dylan Abadie, Jaedon Cone, Eli Cooper, Bowen Ellis, Dulce Gamez, Eddie Hea, Kai Jones, Landon Landry, Blake Lecompte, Heath Mouton, Brody Muhoberac, Payton Watkins, and  Curtis Williams.

NOMMA, a public high charter school offering both college preparatory and career-focused education to students throughout the metro parishes, provides students with access to a Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics (TDL) career pathway.

“This program includes a rigorous six-course sequence culminating in a CTS and 18 college credit hours,” said NOMMA Career Technical Education Coordinator Kaneesha Celestine-Jones. Cadets complete the Delgado Community College courses online while enrolled at NOMMA.

“Our goal at NOMMA is to equip students with the academic knowledge and industry-specific skills necessary to thrive in the fields of Maritime Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics," said Ms. Celestin-Jones added. "Through strategic partnerships and a focused curriculum, we create clear pathways from the classroom to career success.”

“The maritime industry across our region continues to see a strong demand for highly skilled professionals,” added Principal Long. “Through programs like the CTS in Logistics, NOMMA is preparing cadets to meet this demand with confidence. These credentials not only open doors to immediate employment opportunities but also serve as a foundation for long-term career growth and increased earning potential.”

This accomplishment reflects NOMMA’s continued commitment to preparing students for both higher education and meaningful careers in the maritime and logistics industries, Principal Long said. A certificate award ceremony was held in partnership with Delgado Community College for the 13 cadets.

NOMMA is a top-rated open admissions public charter 8-12 high school adjacent to the Marine Forces Reserve national headquarters in Federal City and serving all students from the metro area. All students are enrolled as cadets in the U.S. Marines Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC), led by Commandant Col Chris Schlafer, USMC (Ret) and Principal Alexis Long.
