Twenty-three NOMMA Cadets earn Certificates of Technical Studies in Logistics from Delgado Community College

Twenty-three NOMMA junior and senior cadets received their Certificates of Technical Studies in a ceremony at Delgado. The Delgado CTS program is offered to NOMMA cadets through online courses.

The New Orleans Military and Maritime Academy, an 8-12 grade public charter school in which all students are cadets in the U.S. Marine Junior Reserve Officer Training Program (ROTC), offers both college preparatory and career pathways towards their high school diploma, said Principal Alexis Long.

Part of NOMMA’s Maritime Transportation, Distribution and Logistics career pathway includes a six-course certification program leading to a CTS that earns cadets 18 college credit hours towards an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Business and Management or any college Bachelor degree.

NOMMA Career Technical Education Coordinator Kaneesha Celestin-Jones said, “At NOMMA, we provide a pathway to a promising career in Maritime Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics, along with a quality educational program.”

Careers in this maritime field include materials management, manufacturing logistics, warehousing, shipping, inventory, distribution center/port and air cargo management, industrial construction, and river and transportation operations/management.
“The local maritime industry is in high demand for a skilled workforce. NOMMA is confident in our ability to meet this demand with well-prepared graduates, such as those with the CTS. The potential for earnings in the maritime industry is substantial and increases with further training and education,” said Principal Long.
