GNOCCS "Mega Meeting" Unites Charter School Leaders for Collaborative Innovation

February 8, 2024 – The Greater New Orleans Collaborative of Charter Schools (GNOCCS) hosted a transformative "Mega Meeting" on Tuesday, bringing together leaders from its 14 member organizations representing over 30 schools at the Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Center. Over 90 charter school leaders actively engaged in collaborative activities, idea-sharing sessions, and team-building exercises, underscoring GNOCCS's commitment to advancing students' futures through visionary leadership and education collaboration.

“The goal of this meeting is to harness the strength of our schools by collaborating and living out our mission,” said Dr. Michelle Douglas, CEO of Hynes Charter Schools and GNOCCS President. “This meeting built synergy, momentum, and set a path for our collaborative and its cohorts. Since 2006, GNOCCS has been a visionary organization dedicated to sharing our network’s best practices in order to strengthen our schools academically and with a vision that all families in the GNO area will have the opportunity to choose schools where their children thrive.”

School leaders actively participated in GNOCCS cohorts, including Business Managers/CFOs, Developers/Communications, Operations/Facilities, Curriculum, Special Education, Data Managers, and Human Resources.

On Saturday, March 2, 9 a.m. to 12 noon in the gymnasium at Hynes Charter School-Lakeview, 990 Harrison Ave., GNOCCS will host its 18th annual free Charter School Job Fair for teachers, as well as other degreed school professionals including nurses, counselors, coaches, and administrators. Candidates can  pre-register online now at www.gnocollaborative.com

The Greater New Orleans Collaborative of Charter Schools – or GNOCCS – is a network of community-based public charter schools dedicated to rebuilding and reinvigorating the metropolitan area through quality education and parental choice. As some of the first schools to open their doors after Hurricane Katrina, the founding members of GNOCCS helped clear the path for the emergence of independent public charters locally and regionally. GNOCCS is the “DBA” of the Louisiana Charter School Alliance, which is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation registered in Louisiana.
