Hynes Charters’ School Performance Scores Show Continued Performance Growth Rate 


Hynes-Lakeview retains 10-year “A” rated grade; Hynes-Parkview “A” rated in growth; and Hynes-UNO top in percentage of mastery 



Hynes Charter Network Chief Executive Officer Michelle Douglas is extremely proud to announce progress in each campus’ School Performance Scores (SPS) released by the Louisiana Department of Education for 2023.  


“We are thrilled to see the results of our hard work and dedication to academic excellence and student growth,” said Dr. Douglas. “These scores exemplify the relentless pursuit of quality education at Hynes. We commend the students, families, faculty, and staff at our three elementary campuses.” 


Hynes- Lakeview’s overall SPS increased four points, exceeding its 2022 SPS and maintaining its "A” rated academic status for the past decade. After only two years of being a part of the Hynes Charter School Network, Hynes- Parkview increased their SPS by an impressive eight points, nearly doubling its SPS score in only two years under Hynes leadership, equating to an “A’ rated growth indicator. Additionally, Hynes-Parkview has achieved 140% growth on their Assessment Index since 2021. Hynes-UNO received its first SPS letter grade, a C, and boasts the 2nd highest Percentage of Mastery in LEAP assessments and the 3rd highest Assessment Index for Orleans Parish open enrollment schools. 


Almost the entire initial Hynes-UNO SPS was based on the Assessment Index, and its performance outpaced both the averages of Orleans and Louisiana elementary schools. “We look forward to the significantly positive impact that the inclusion of the Progress Index will have on the SPS for the 2023-2024 school year,” said Dr. Douglas.  “At Hynes, we believe that analyzing data, setting student-specific goals, and implementing research-based instructional practices are essential elements that have led to our strong performance."


Additionally, Hynes-Lakeview was awarded both the "Top Gains" and “Opportunity Honoree” designations by the Louisiana Department of Education, provided only to schools that show the highest levels of growth across the state. 


The Hynes-Lakeview campus (PK3 – 8th), Hynes-UNO campus  (K-4, growing each year to K-8), and the Hynes-Parkview campus (K-8th) are all part of the charter school’s network.  Hynes-Lakeview and Hynes-UNO offer a French immersion program.

Hynes Charter Schools are some of the highest demand, non-selective admissions elementary schools in Orleans Parish,  serving three campuses in Lakeview and Gentilly.
