Audubon Schools Show Extraordinary Growth in 2023 School Performance Scores 


Audubon Charter Uptown moves back to an “A” school  and Audubon Charter Gentilly moves up an unprecedented two letter grades


The Audubon Schools network, comprising two Orleans Parish schools, Audubon Charter Uptown and Audubon Charter Gentilly, have shown tremendous growth in the School Performance Scores (SPS) released by the Louisiana Department of Education for 2023, announced Chief Executive Officer Steven Corbett.  The combined growth of the schools is an outstanding 21.9 points.

Individually, Audubon Charter Uptown earned an 'A' Letter Grade and a 91.9 SPS and Audubon Charter Gentilly earned a 'C' Letter Grade and a 64 SPS. Audubon Uptown increased their SPS score by 7.7 points; Audubon Gentilly increased their SPS score by 14.2 points.

“These scores and grades reflect a variety of metrics, most notably how our students perform on state assessments and how they have grown year to year,” said CEO Corbett.  “Our students and their achievements reflect the dedication, hard work, and commitment of our entire school community.”


Audubon Charter Gentilly increased its SPS by two letter grades in a single year, accomplishing a feat that has not been achieved by a K-8 NOLA-PS school since the start of the more rigorous LEAP 2025 assessments in 2016, said Dr. Corbett. Audubon Charter Uptown restored its SPS back to an 'A' letter grade, which it had last in 2017 prior to the implementation of a new school performance score formula. 


“These gains highlight our continuous growth and excellence within our charter network,” said CEO Corbett. “We are moving in the right direction and expect to improve every year.”


Additionally, both schools were also awarded the "Top Gains" designation by the Louisiana Department of Education, provided only to schools that show the highest levels of growth across the state. 


“While these scores are significant in their meaning and purpose, we also know that they are just one aspect of what makes the Audubon Schools network so wonderful,” said Corbett.  “We are so proud of each and every one of our students, teachers, staff and administrators for all of their hard work in achieving this growth.”
