During the program, students will learn tech literacy, problem-solving, creativity and professional collaboration, all keys to success in the 21st century workforce, while building a portfolio of website and video-game projects.
Two levels of courses will be offered. Students new to coding can enroll in the Fundamentals of HTML, CSS and Javascript, earning 1 Carnegie Credit and a Basic Industry Based Credential (IBC). There is no prerequisite for this course. Students who have completed Operation Spark’s Fundamentals course can enroll in Advanced Javascript, Functional Programming and Web Development, earning 1 Carnegie Credit plus an Advanced IBC. Both classes will be held Monday through Friday and are three hours long. Fundamentals classes are offered at either 9:00 am to 12:00 noon or 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Advanced classes will be held virtually only from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.There are a limited number of tuition-free spots available for public and parochial school students who attend Operation Spark partner schools; students who attend non-partner schools are eligible for tuition discounts. To attend virtually, students need a laptop, desktop, or Chromebook, a working mic and webcam, and a reliable internet connection. Email mayukh at operationspark.org with questions.
