 New Orleans Charter Science and Math “Sci High” StudentsSubmit Short Film “Returning” to Film Prize Junior
 New Orleans Charter Science and Math High School (Sci High) is proud topresent its student-film Returning in a special premiere at the Film Prize Jr. Festival.Film Prize Junior Festival is April 15-25, and it is free to view the films and vote for yourfavorite at FilmPrizeJr.com . All viewing and voting for the short films will end at12:00am CST on Sunday, April 25.
 “The film is about two black female teenagers defying the evil force that hascaused a huge divide in the black community, also known as colorism," said ReturningWriter and Director Kamryn Edwards. “Two young women have been struggling withtheir identities as black females. They are led to believe that they are supposed to beagainst each other. However, when they wake up, they experience an awakening. Atthis point, they know that they were never meant to be apart, but to be united.”
 In addition to Writer/Director Kamryn Edwards, the Sci High student film crewincludes Cinematographer Da'jana Florent, Editor Nola Szilagi, and Assistant DirectorKeily Adams. The Sci High cast includes Raquel Florent, Joris Lindhout, JeaniqueJackson, TiAnna Murray, and Talia Karriem.
 Last Year, Sci High took home the Grand Prize at Film Prize Junior 2019 for itsstudent film Like a Ship Without a Sail. “We are so proud of our talented students in ourCareer and Technical Education Department and their continued success,” said SciHigh CEO Dr. Monique Cola.
 To participate in Film Prize Junior, teachers and students must follow a programwhere they learn how to create a screenplay, work together to produce the film and topromote their film to an audience. This year, Film Prize Junior had 68 short filmssubmitted by students from 37 schools across Louisiana. Students will compete for BestFilm as well as best Comedy, Drama, Sci-Fi/Thriller, Stop Motion/Animation, andDocumentary/PSA.
         This year’s virtual festival will be one of the largest student film festivals andconferences in the country, and the festival organizers will award $10,000 inscholarships and media grants to the winning schools.
 The awards ceremony will be a live Facebook event on Wednesday, April 28 at5:00pm CST where the winning films will be announced. A full schedule of events canbe found on the festival website, FilmPrizeJr.com.

 Sci High offers students cutting-edge and industry-focused STEM electives. Sci High was giventhe National Society of High School Scholars Foundation’s Class Nobel School of Distinction Award for itsacademic efforts. Students have access to Advanced Placement
