Operation Spark Offering Virtual High School Coding Classes to Students in Grades 10-12
Limited tuition-free spots available to public and parochial school students in beginners class!
Students will learn how to build websites, create video games
Operation Spark, a non-profit coding bootcamp that provides training in software development for adults and youth across Louisiana, is offering virtual high school coding classes for public school students in grades 10-12 for Winter/Spring of 2021. The classes will take place online, after school, twice weekly from 4:30pm to 6:30pm.  Classes start the week of January 18 and end in mid-May.  Limited tuition-free spots are available at each public and parochial school. Applicants are encouraged to apply by December 18 to ensure a spot at: bit.ly/opsparkspring2021Through the live virtual courses, students will learn tech literacy, problem-solving, creativity and professional collaboration, all keys to success in the 21st century workforce, while building a portfolio of website and video-game projects. Two levels of courses will be offered.  The first level for beginners with limited tuition-free spots will be Fundamentals of HTML, CSS and Javascript, earning 1 Carnegie Credit and a Basic Industry Based Credential (IBC). There is no prerequisite for this course. The second course offering is Advanced Javascript, Functional Programming and Web Development, earning 1 Carnegie Credit plus Advanced IBC. The Basic IBC is required to take this course.To participate in these classes, students need a laptop, desktop, or Chromebook, a working mic, and a reliable internet connection.Email mayukh at operationspark.org with questions!
