Hynes Charter School Celebrates Music in Our Schools Month




On Tuesday, March 15, 2016, the students of Hynes Charter School, under the direction of music teacher Brittany Smith, gave a musical presentation in honor of music education and Music in Our Schools Month. At Hynes, all students participate weekly in various music classes. Their experiences range from singing, rhythm and movement, playing instruments to music technology. The school offers after-school band and chorus activities. Hynes values and supports music education and the benefits that students receive from studying music. Studies show that participation in music education increases children’s vocabulary, builds their self-esteem, improves math skills and enhances a child’s creativity. Music helps educate the whole child.
