Young Audiences and the New Orleans Public Library present:
Community Arts and Literacy Workshops
Free event features costuming, crafts, music, play, snacks and a book for each child




Young Audiences and the New Orleans Public Library present Community Arts and Literacy Workshops: performing arts and literacy activities for the family. Children are encouraged to dress up in costume as their favorite storybook character. Crafts, light snacks and a free book will be given to all children who attend. The event is free and open to the public.


Where: Children’s Resource Center,  913 Napoleon Ave., NOLA 70115


When: Saturday, November 21, 11am-12pm


Young Audiences Arts-Integrated Workshops:


11:00-11:30am: “Musical Rumpus” with Chris- toper Sheard for pre-school aged children and caregivers.


11:30am-12:00pm: “Baby Arts Play!” Music and movement for infants, toddlers and caregivers with Giselle Nahkid

This Community Arts and Literacy event is part of the Louisiana W.K. Kellogg Foundation funded Louisiana Wolf Trap project, an initiative of Young Audiences of Louisiana.  The project serves every class at Educare and Kingsley House Early Head Start and Head Start centers with professional development residencies for teachers and community arts and literacy events at their nearest library branches.  The goal of the grant is to increase kindergarten readiness in New Orleans by giving teachers the tool of arts-integration so they can increase engagement with and understanding of key social and academic skills needed to succeed in kindergarten and beyond.
