Based on The Practitioner's Guide to Governance as Leadership: Building High-Performing Nonprofit Boards by Cathy A. Trower, this session focuses on the Governance as Leadership model, the three governance modes, and suggestions for transforming the board's operations through intentional practices.


Presenter:  Makiyah Moody is an experienced trainer and strategist with a proven track record of leading and managing teams, forging partnerships, developing programs and providing strategic analysis. Her career spans multiple educational nonprofits aimed at ensuring access and equity. A graduate of Wheaton College in Massachusetts and the University of Chicago, Makiyah values volunteerism and community engagement. She currently serves on Wheaton College's Board of Trustees.
