[CharterSchools] Congrats: Charters that are "top workplaces"

Algiers Charter School Association, Belle Chasse Academy, Lusher Charter and New Orleans Sci High Charter were highlighted by nola.com yesterday in a special supplement to the Sunday Times Picayune of the Top 40 Workplaces in Greater New Orleans for 2015.



Algiers Charter School Association was fourth in the top five large companies with 400 or more employees; Belle Chasse ranked fourth and Lusher Charter ranked 12 among mid-size companies with more than 150 employees but less than 400; and Sci High ranked 18 among small companies with less than 150 employees. 



Belle Chasse was also given a special award for "meaningfulness", since its employees noted overwhelmingly how satisfying working at the school made them feel in contributing something greater to the community.



At the invitation of the media company, participating employers surveyed employees this spring on many workplace topics. National research firm Workplace Dynamics verified and tabulated the survey results from 19,000 employees in about 800 organizations throughout the New Orleans area. Just 40 companies rose to the top, and these charter school representatives underscore what an impact schools are having in the metro area.

      
 
      
The survey from Workplace Dynamics focused on topics such as company values, working atmosphere, quality of managers, assessment of employee compensation for work done, and company communication and execution. The results show that New Orleans area employees ranked pay and benefits lowest among factors most important to creating a positive work environment. More attention was given to connections with leadership/managers and believing in the organization’s direction.
