AUDITIONS JAN. 24 FOR THE HERITAGE SCHOOL OF MUSIC PLUS TWO NEW BAND PROGRAMS!
Auditions are at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, for the Spring 2015 semester of our free music program - the Don "Moose" Jamison Heritage School of Music. We're also holding auditions at the same time for two new programs: The Jazz & Heritage All-City Big Band and the Jazz & Heritage Brass Band. All three are free and open to students ages 10-17 from throught the greater New Orleans region. Auditions take place at our new, state-of-the-art facility, the George and Joyce Wein Jazz & Heritage Center (map). See below for details.
On Saturday, Jan. 24, at 10:00 a.m., we'll host auditions for three free music programs:

This is our main music education program and has been in existence since 1990. Classes meet from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. And now that we have our new facility, we are adding classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The Heritage School provides free group lessons in brass, woodwinds, piano, bass, drums, guitar and voice. New students are welcome. Returning students do not need to audition. Regular classes will resume on Jan. 31.

This will be a top caliber group that is expected to perform at the highest level, and will travel to competitions across the country. It will meet from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. We're seeking talented students to audition; we're also looking for recommendations from band directors and others for outstanding young players.
