Leonard Galmon -- artist, oldest of six children, son of a 13-year-old girl and a murdered drug dealer, veteran of one of the worst schools in New Orleans -- is going to Yale.
(Click on the link below for the whole story.)

No doubt the Ron Brown Scholarship and Yale full tuition and room-and-board scholarships awarded to Leonard will go a long way in covering his educational expenses, but when a young man from New Orleans leaves home for the first time with the objective of spending at least four years in New Haven, Connecticut, he’s going to need more than tuition and room-and-board fees. What about winter clothes and shoes? What about bed and bath linens? What about luggage? And, anybody who has ever attended a university knows where a lot of the learning goes on… in the cafes having coffee or drinks, going out, and generally sharing a social life with ones peers. Pocket money, folks… It’s very important, too.
Please join us in supporting Leonard Galmond. Leonard has set up an account at Liberty Bank and Trust Company and we are working together to seed that account. Join us. Any gift, no matter how small, OR large, will be a huge help.
We are trying to raise at least $1000 by August 8th; Leonard heads North on August 16th.

Send your check, payable to Leonard Galmon, to
