Lusher Charter School Receives Exemplary School Designation from Arts School Network
 
Lusher Charter School has been designated a 2014-2016 Exemplary School by Arts Schools Network, the nation’s largest professional membership organization of specialized arts schools. Created to highlight a school’s commitment to excellence, this designation is presented to an Arts Schools Network member school in recognition of its efforts to evaluate strategically its purpose, operations, and educational programs. This honor signifies that Lusher Charter School has successfully completed a self-evaluation in the following areas:  strengths, areas for improvement, consistency with school-wide or program purposes, aspirations, and future challenges. 
 
Lusher Charter School is a highly recognized school in the arts, academics, athletics, and empathy education.  Lusher’s K-12 program is committed to the arts, academic excellence, and an appreciation of the rich cultural heritage of its surrounding neighborhood.  Lusher has maintained a common philosophy that is threaded throughout the school with an arts program consisting of creative writing, dance, media arts, music (choir, jazz band, orchestra, symphonic band), musical theatre, stagecraft, theatre, and visual arts.  All students explore opportunities to freely and fearlessly create, produce, and respond to varied art forms. 
 
Core values of kindness, respect, responsibility, and hard work are reinforced throughout the students’ education.  These values, the school’s focus on student well-being, and its balanced program of arts and high academics have led to Lusher’s status as the highest performing K-12 school in Louisiana and as one of the most sought-after programs in New Orleans.
