Lusher Charter School to expand Kindergarten
2 more kindergarten classes to be added
 
            Lusher Charter School Chief Executive Officer Kathy Riedlinger announced today the school will be expanding Kindergarten by two classes in the Fall.  
“As one of the top ranked K-12 charter schools in the state, Lusher typically has hundreds more applications than spaces,” said Dr. Riedlinger. “This is great news for our parents and community.”
            Riedlinger said that the expansion will help meet the profuse need of quality public education in New Orleans, and the new slots will be filled by the current waiting list.
“We are proud that Lusher is a school that parents and children choose to attend, and we are thrilled that this expansion will help us to serve more children as a part of the Lusher family,” said Riedlinger.
            Approved at Tuesday night’s Orleans Parish School Board meeting, the expansion will increase the Lusher Kindergarten class by 50 students, or two classes of 25 students each.
The additional classes will be housed at the Jewish Community Center (JCC) Uptown to accommodate the growth. In the school year 2011-2012, the JCC will house the two incoming 1st grade classes and two Kindergarten classes.
Lusher’s four existing kindergarten classrooms will remain at their Willow Street campus.
