George Pollock Jenkins, 94, died peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 14. He is
survived by his wife of 64 years, Marian; his three sons, James, Robert
and Richard, and their spouses Nevitt, Heidi and Jackie, and seven
grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Ellen J. Smith. A
graduate of Blair Academy, Princeton University and The Harvard Graduate
School of Business, George spent virtually his entire professional career
at The Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, ultimately serving as the
chairman of the board. He also served as a trustee of numerous
corporations, non-profits and educational institutions. He was passionate
about finance, education, the Presbyterian Church and his family. Funeral
services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 12 noon at The Presbyterian
Church of Upper Montclair, 53 Norwood Ave., Upper Montclair, NJ 07043. The
Van Tassel Funeral Home, Bloomfield, is handling funeral arrangements. In
lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Blair Academy, Blairstown,
N.J. 07825, or The Board of Pensions of the Presbyterian Church,
Assistance Program Room 3024, 2000 Market St., Philadelphia, Pa. 19103.
