Local community leaders, like you, are working to launch NewOrleansReporter.org - a new, online news journal that will be available in multiple digital formats, including web, tablet, smart phone and social media. I encourage each of us disgusted with the dismantling of the Times Picayune to support this effort. Do it today. Pledge funds or at least give them your email address! 
 
NewOrleansReporter.org will provide high-quality, original reporting in key focus beats, each with a dedicated reporter, such as:
 
·  Government  Accountability - Watchdog function for officials and good government

·  Business - Coverage of economic development progress, including key policy issues

·  Education - Specific focus on educational reform

·  Criminal Justice - Coverage of progress with crime and the judicial system

·  Environmental - Coastal restoration and flood protection issues

It will also be an aggregator with a traditional news layout.  It will link to other stories, but present articles in an ordered hierarchy of relevance and importance.
 
The group will be approaching some national foundations for financial support.  A solid base of local support will strengthen their proposal.
