Showcase Summer Internships
Student interns worked at the Zoo, Tulane Cancer Center, YA-YA and more

WHY:        
Sci High summer internship students will present creative projects detailing their summer jobs around the city and what they learned from the experience. 
New Orleans Charter Science and Math High School (Sci High), in partnership with public education support non-profit New Orleans Outreach, continued learning through the summer with its Summer High School Internship Program that placed students into real-life work situations. Twenty-nine students gained valuable hands-on and resume building experience by participating in paid internships at various worksites including the Audubon Nature Institute, Tulane Cancer Center, Tulane Athletics, GNO Inc., The Arc, YA-YA, LOOP, and Carrollton Technologies.
The program prioritizes work in the New Orleans area to benefit the community and contribute to a sense of personal ownership and local involvement. The students receive a stipend upon successful completion of the six-week internship, which lasted from June 1 to July 27.  The program is funded by a $50,000 grant from the Foundation for Science and Math Education (www.nolascienceandmath.org) and coordinated by New Orleans Outreach (www.nooutreach.org)
