Charlton Peak (10,806)  

 

A good spring hike in preparation for Sierra and other adventures.
Approximately 4000ft gain to the summit.  The route will include "Poopout
Hill", South Fork Meadows, views of the "spectacular?" Dollar Lake,
continuing up the north slopes of the peak (aka "Dollar Couloir").  Expect
excellent views, hard snow conditions; ice axe & crampons required.  Meet at
the South Fork trailhead - 6900' - (East of Angelus Oaks, .4 mi east of
Jenks Lake,) at 6:30.  A National Forest Adventure Pass is required for
