CMC Members,

Two CMC outings coming up - one this week, and one next week!

July 31st - August 2nd Friday-Sunday Summer Friends/Family
Membership Outing

The annual CMC Summer Outing location will be in the Eastern Sierra, west of
Tom's Place, in Rock Creek Canyon at the East Fork Campground. We have five
campsites reserved for Friday and Saturday night. Each site has space for 6
people and 2 vehicles, and additional parking is available for a $5.00 fee.
This outing/location has something for everyone - climbing, hiking, mountain
biking, fishing, site seeing or just hanging out in camp. If you're
interested in a specific activity, please make arrangements with others on
the trip roster. Friends and family are welcome, but MUST be accompanied by
a CMC member. Please contact Joe at <mailto:joewhite328 at gmail.com>
joewhite328 at gmail.com , or Henry at <mailto:harnebold at gmail.com>
harnebold at gmail.com for additional information.
LEADERS/ORGANIZERS: Joe White and Henry Arnebold

August 8th (Rescheduled) Saturday Mt.
Shasta: Clear Creek Day-hike

Whether one considers it a climb or a strenuous hike, the Clear Creek
<http://www.summitpost.org/clear-creek/157378> route on Mt. Shasta offers
the easiest route to the summit. While technically the 'easiest' route to
the summit, one still has to earn it over 7,600 feet of gain and an
approximate one-way mileage between 7-8 miles (an overview of the route can
be viewed here
<http://shastaavalanche.org/sites/default/files/images/climbing_routes/ms_ea
st_large.jpg> ). Current conditions make this an ascent that requires
neither an ice axe or crampons. The climb/hike would begin at 03:00 with
the goal to summit before noon. Updated conditions for Mt Shasta can be
found at Shastaavalanche.org <http://shastaavalanche.org/> , and the roads
to the Clear Creek trailhead suffered washout damage on 7/20
<http://shastaavalanche.org/announcements/clear-creek-road-compromised-due-s
torm-damage> . As such it is strongly recommended that a high clearance
and/or 4-wheel drive vehicle be used to access the trailhead. Send an email
with experience/conditioning to chris.jakober at gmail.com.
