Cascade Multi-Peak Climb

 

 A total of six to partake in this adventure would be ideal. The goal is to
rent a single large van and share travel expenses and campsites between the
group. The listed dates (May 31-June 8, June 7-June 15, or June 14-June 22),
itinerary, and peaks are subject to discussion depending on the needs and
wants of the members. This will involve all the snow, rock and interpersonal
skills you can muster. Any and all input from group participants toward the
success of the trip is encouraged.

1-Drive to Whiskeytown Nat'l. Rec. Area, CA (561 mi. / 8hr.30min.)

2-Drive to Bend, OR (277mi./5hr.15min.)

3-Climb Mt. Bachelor + drive to S. Sister

4-Climb S. Sister Peak + drive to M. Sister

5-Climb M. Sister Peak + Drive to Rhododendron, OR (116 mi./2hr.20min.)

6-Rest

7-Climb Mt. Hood

8-Drive to Sacramento, CA (551mi./9hr.30min.)

9-Drive Home (397mi./6hr.10min.)

July 4th - 7th            Friday-Monday
Deerhorn  Mountain  13,265 ft.

 

The plans are to climb the NE Ridge (Class 3-4) or North Buttress of
Deerhorn Mountain (class 3) and the north ridge of Mount Stanford (class 3).
We will be going in over Kearsarge Pass to Bullfrog Lake trails to the John
Muir Trail. We will leave the trail in Vidette Meadow and hike cross-country
up the Vidette Creek drainage to the base of the peak. Round trip stats from
the Onion Valley trailhead are approximately 27 miles and 8,500 feet of

July 25th - 27th               Friday-Sunday               Kearsarge Peak,
University Peak, and Summer Friends/Family Membership Outing      

Join us for some fun peak bagging day hikes, and car camping!  This year's
annual CMC Summer Outing location will be in the Eastern Sierra, west of
Independence, at the Onion Valley Campground.  We have four (free!)
campsites reserved for Friday and Saturday night.  Each site has space for 6
people and 1 vehicle, and additional parking is available for a $5.00 fee,
or park for free at the backpacker parking lot.  Friday - climb Kearsarge
Peak (12,598') via Lilley Pass (class 2), and Saturday climb University Peak
(13,632') via the Southeast Ridge (class 2).  Other possible day hikes from
Onion Valley are Independence (11,744'), Gould (13,005'), and Dragon
(12,955').   Not interested in peak bagging?  You can go rock climbing,
hiking, mountain biking, fishing, site seeing, or just hang out in camp.
Friends and family are welcome, but MUST be accompanied by a CMC member.

September 4th - 7th                   Thursday-Sunday
Miter Basin 


 


Join us for some climbing fun and adventure as we head over Cottonwood Pass,
north into beautiful Miter Basin.  This trip will provide an opportunity to
climb at least three peaks, including one fourteener!  Thursday, backpack
into Miter Basin (12 miles), and set up camp south of Sky Blue Lake.
Friday, climb Mount Newcomb (13,410') via the Northeast Ridge - class 3, and
depending on interest and enthusiasm Joe Devel Peak (13,325') via the
Northeast Ridge - class 2, and Mount Pickering (13,485) via the Southwest
slope - class 2.  Saturday, move camp to upper South Fork Lakes, stopping
along the way to climb The Major General (12,400') Southwest slopes - class
1, and Mount Langley (14,042') South Slopes - class 1.  Sunday, hike out and
drive home.  Participants must be in good physical condition, and
comfortable on un-roped class 3.  Helmet and bear canister required.  Send

September 18th - 21st                         Thursday-Sunday
Williamson & Tyndall Scrambling

 

Care to bag a couple of 14ers after the bugs and people have thinned out in
the backcountry?  Approach on Thursday over Shepherd Pass to one of the
unnamed lakes between the Pass and Williamson Bowl, approximately ~11 miles
and ~6,000 feet of elevation gain.  Friday climb/descend the North Rib
(Class 3) of Mt. Tyndall <http://www.summitpost.org/mount-tyndall/150441> .
Saturday climb one of the Class 3 or Class 4 routes on the Western aspects
of Mt. Williamson <http://www.summitpost.org/mount-williamson/150438>  (West
Face, Southwest Face, or Southwest Ridge) and descend back to camp via the
West Face.  Sunday slog down from Shepherd Pass to the trailhead and drive
