September 15:
Vital Gym's Send by the Sea Fundraiser in Carlsbad, CA

Join the American Alpine Club and Vital Climbing Gym in Carlsbad (6102 Avenida Encinas, Suite L Carlsbad, CA 92011) in their annual Fundraising Bouldering Competition. Last year, we were pleased to raise funds for local climber, Danielle Watson. This year we are raising funds for the unfortunate loss of 2 from the climbing community: Ben Horne & Gil Weiss who lost their lives this summer climbing in Peru. There was great financial cost to the families in exhuming the bodies and transporting them home. There will be climbing as well as a silent auction to raise funds. There will be two comp sessions: 12:00pm-2:00pm for Youth/Beginner and 2:30pm-4:30pm for Intermediate/Advanced.

Yosemite Facelift in Yosemite Valley, CA

Join the AAC in working with the Yosemite Climbing Association for the 9th Annual Yosemite Facelift--a volunteer park-wide cleanup. In 2011 volunteers gathered 4,295 lbs of trash, much less than the 30,000 lbs gathered 8 years ago, but still necessary to clean out before the winter rains hit. There will be a stacked lineup of evening events available for volunteers to attend as well as plenty of opportunities to explore the Park. The AAC campsite is full, but you can check with the Yosemite Climbing Association for other available spots and come work and party with us!
