On Sunday morning, July 10th, 2011, Matt Hengst, Daryn Dodge and I set off
from the Lupine Meadows TH up into Garnet Canyon and to the base of the
Grand Teton (13,770'). This was a very heavy snow year for them too, so our
packs were weighed down with full climbing gear as well as snow gear, but
the weather looked good. We left camp at 4am next morning and headed up to
the Lower Saddle and the start of the Owen Spalding route. After traversing
the infamous ledge called 'Wall Street', we began the Upper Exum route - 5
pitches later, we were on the summit!
Of course getting down was another whole adventure!
