March 31st - April 3rd Thursday - Sunday
Mount Whitney Winter Ascent

This trip will provide an opportunity for a winter ascent of Mount Whitney
(14,491') via the Mountaineer's Route. Depending on the snow level, we will
need to hike/snowshoe at least 1-2 miles up the road to the trailhead. To
accommodate short winter days and heavy winter packs our approach to Iceberg
Lake will take two days. We plan to summit on the third day, and snowshoe
out/drive home on the fourth day. Snowshoes, ice axe and crampons and
excellent physical condition required. Send email experience and
conditioning to Joe at <mailto:josephlwhite at earthlink.net>

tritchie at rkmattorneys.com. LEADERS/ORGANIZERS: Joe White and Tom Ritchie

April 8th -10th Saturday/Sunday
Joshua Tree

Rock climbing in Joshua Tree National Park. Our focus is always on safety
and having fun! We continually are able to find a variety climbs for rock
leaders and for those who just want to top rope. This gives everyone plenty
to work on at their own pace. Dinner at Edchadas and a campfire Saturday
night at our Indian Cove group campsite. Parking will be limited on this
trip, so carpooling is a must. Send SASE with experience or e-mail Joe at
<mailto:josephlwhite at earthlink.net> josephlwhite at earthlink.net.

April 29th - May 1st Friday - Sunday
Olancha Peak - Southeast Couloir

Anyone who has traveled highway 395 from L.A to the eastern Sierra has
probably seen this route as it is clearly visible from the town of Olancha.
In a good snow year, the SE couloir can have up to 4000 ft. of climbable
snow. Friday backpack/bushwhack to our camp at ~6,100 Ft. Saturday get an
early start for the Southeast Couloir and return to camp. Sunday pack up
and head out (note: We'll have option of hiking out Saturday if time and
energy permit). Ice axe, crampons, helmet, and good attitude required.
This will be a strenuous trip. Participants must be in very good physical
condition and able to maintain group pace. Send email with experience and
recent conditioning to Ron ( <mailto:rsnorton473 at yahoo.com>

May 13th - 15th Friday - Sunday
Eastern Sierra Backcountry Skiing

I am looking for some backcountry skiers or boarders who would be interested
in joining me for some backcountry skiing in the eastern sierra. Prefer day
trips only, so our packs will be light! Conditions will determine the final
location but the general idea is to car camp in an area like Onion Valley
and then make single day ascents/descents. Might even meet up with Joe
White's Mary Austin group on Friday morning to compare pack weights! Send
me an email ( <mailto:rsnorton473 at yahoo.com> rsnorton473 at yahoo.com) if
interested.
