We are pleased to invite you to an AAC Southwest  Section Dinner on December
5, 2010 featuring an exciting talk by Phil Powers.

Phil has led dozens of expeditions to South America, Alaska and Pakistan's
Karakoram Range. Notable ascents include K2 and Gasherbrum II without
supplemental oxygen; the first ascent of the Washburn Face on Denali; the
first ascent of Lukpilla Brakk's Western Edge in Pakistan; and the first
winter traverse of the Tetons' Cathedral Peaks. Powers is author of
Wilderness Mountaineering-a third edition was released in 2009-and Climbing:
Expedition Planning. Powers owns Jackson Hole Mountain Guides, which offers
premiere, custom climbing trips in the Western United States. He serves on
the boards of the University of Colorado's Altitude Research Center, The
Rowell Award, and the Bradford Washburn American Mountaineering Museum. He
lives with his wife and children in Denver, Colorado.
 
Appetizers and a no host bar will be available at 5:30 with a buffet dinner
starting at 6:00 followed by the presentation. The cost of dinner is $25.
