New Orleans Military and Maritime Academy cadets once again supported the Saints' Kick Off 5Km run event, keeping the crowds motivated and hydrated at their water point stations on Poydras and on North Peters Street. "NOMMA cadets proudly serve the local community in a wide variety of activities and are part of the largest Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps program in the nation," said Principal Alexis Long.

The cadets in the New Orleans Military and Maritime Academy Band were honored to welcome the final group of World War II Veterans to the WWII Museum, as the Soaring Valor Program initiated by the museum to provide trips to all living service members concludes. More than 1400 service members have participated in the program, as the final 20 WWII veterans arrived to the sounds of the NOMMA Band. Senior Marine Instructor Colonel Patrick Kline, USMC Ret., said “Several visiting veterans eyes just lit up and were all smiles as the NOMMA Band welcomed them. Many complimented the cadets and thanked them for participating.” “We are here to show these WWII veterans the museum that was built in their honor and bring in these high school students to really tie in the education piece and let the next generation know what they did for us over 80 years ago,” said WWII VP of Program Hannah Luppino.
