Audubon Charter – Baton Rouge Names Kevin George as School Director
[Baton Rouge, Louisiana] – Audubon Schools, a network known for its history of academic excellence, is proud to announce the appointment of Kevin George as School Director of its newest charter school, Audubon Charter – Baton Rouge. The school, located at 7800 Innovation Park Dr., will officially transition to Audubon’s leadership for the 2025-2026 school year following approval from the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board.“We are incredibly thrilled and fortunate to have Mr. George leading our first Baton Rouge school,” said Audubon Schools CEO Dr. Steven Corbett. “With over 26 years of experience in K-12 education, he brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership that will help establish Audubon Charter – Baton Rouge as a premier educational institution.”Mr. George is a distinguished education leader with an extensive career spanning multiple leadership roles. Most recently, he served as Assistant to the Dean of Human Sciences and Education at Louisiana State University. Previously, he was honored as the 2017 VH-1 Superintendent of the Year while leading St. John the Baptist Parish Schools, and under his leadership, the University Laboratory School in Baton Rouge was named a National Blue Ribbon School in 2022.
Beyond his administrative achievements, Mr. George is a co-founder of the Louisiana Superintendent’s Academy, which prepares executive-level educators for superintendent roles. He is also the founder of the Black Alumni Chapter at Nicholls State University, his alma mater, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing and a master’s degree in educational leadership.
The newly restructured Audubon Charter – Baton Rouge will reflect Audubon’s proven curriculum, core principles, and academic structure, providing students with a rich and engaging educational experience. The school will transition to serving grades K-5 (growing to K-8) and will incorporate Audubon’s signature approach, which includes rigorous academics, a dynamic gifted and talented program, and comprehensive arts integration.
Audubon Schools was selected to manage the school due to its strong record of academic success. In both 2023 and 2024, Audubon Schools earned the Louisiana Department of Education’s “Top Gains” designation, an honor awarded to schools demonstrating the highest academic growth in the state.
Audubon Schools operates two high-performing, open-enrollment schools in New Orleans: the A-rated Audubon Uptown (PK–8) and Audubon Gentilly (K–8), both of which have received statewide recognition for their academic achievements.
