Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for New Discovery Arts & Athletics Performance Center


Today, Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy (KDHSA), a school in the Discovery Schools network and an open enrollment public charter school serving grades PK-12, held a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for its new Discovery Arts & Athletics Performance Center. This state-of-the-art, multi-purpose facility spans 29,000 square feet. It is designed to elevate the student experience with a gymnasium featuring a full-size court and seating for 2,100 spectators, athletic locker rooms, a coaches' office, a weight room, additional classrooms, and a performance stage with dressing rooms. The Discovery Arts & Athletics Performance Center is located at 3837 Loyola Dr. in Kenner.

It is designed to inspire students, nurture their talents, and create opportunities for them to excel in a setting that reflects the highest standards of innovation and quality. This is more than just a building; it’s a cornerstone for the continued success and development of our student body.”


KDHSA has an impressive athletic program. At the high school level, there are 28 varsity sports teams (14 for boys and 14 for girls) and 20 sub-varsity teams (10 for boys and 10 for girls), involving more than half of the student body. The middle school supports ten sports teams, with more than half of the student body actively participating. The lower school offers three intramural sports teams for 3rd and 4th grade students. In addition to sports, the school has a strong arts program, offering courses and clubs in dance, music, theatre, and visual arts. The new facility will be a valuable asset in nurturing these programs.
