[CharterSchools] "The Starting Block" for NORD Teens--deadline Sept. 8

 NORD has exciting news to share with you about a free Fall program for our teens interested in learning the ins and outs of the sports industry.  Young men and women entering 9th through 11th grades will learn firsthand how their interest in sports can culminate in a real career choices and lifelong opportunities. 



 

The program is through The Starting Block: a Fielkow-Chase Youth Education Initiative designed to build impactful relationships between multicultural and multifaith communities in Greater New Orleans through practical learning and career building for high school students.  Each class completes an 18-month education cycle with the goal of preparing teens for a professional career in the sports field after college. In-person classes are held every two months, from October through May, and rotate between Tulane University, St. Augustine High School, Touro Synagogue, the Museum of the Southern Jewish Experience, and other local venues.

 

Eligible students come from metro area high schools. Applications are still being accepted until September 8, 2023.  Classes begin in October.  If you are interested in learning more, please use the link below.

This free program open to incoming 9th-11th graders, boys and girls, is currently recruiting for our 2nd cohort, with classes beginning this Fall. We still have spaces available and would love to see your youth part of this innovative program teaching the in’s and out’s of the sports industry. You do a wonderful job mentoring the youth of our community and we would love to welcome your students to our program!
