 Einstein Charter Association Sherwood Forest Elementary School Becomes 2nd Orleans ParishSchool inducted into the National Elementary Honor Society
Induction program to be held on October 18 at 6pm
 
The National Association of Secondary School Principals has sponsored the Prestigious National HonorSociety since 1921, an organization dedicated to advancing scholarship for the highest achieving scholarsin America’s public and private high schools. In 2008, NASSP founded the National Elementary SchoolsHonors Society in partnership with the National Elementary School Principals Foundation.
 
Membership in the National Elementary Honor Society requires strict adherence to the highest standardsof academic excellence. Only students with a demonstrated, superior focus on outstanding scholarship andcharacter are admitted into this National Organization.
 
In August, 2023, Sherwood Forest Elementary School applied for Charter Chapter Membership and wasaccepted. Sherwood Forest Elementary School is Orleans Parish’s second National Elementary HonorSociety School.
 
“We are elated to join the ranks of an organization that recognizes the academic excellencies in ourchildren and we’re humbled that our school can pioneer this effort in the New Orleans East Community,”says Dr. Christopher Mayes, Principal of Sherwood Forest Elementary School.
 
“There is a diverse group of learners in New Orleans East. We have students who are growing andlearning, and we have students who excel beyond what’s expected, and those children deserve to behonored and celebrated,” said Vida Thompson, NEHS Advisor for Sherwood Forest Elementary School.
 
Students will be inducted into the organization at an invitation only Black Tie Affair to take place atEinstein Charter Schools Headquarters, 4801 Maid Marion Drive, New Orleans, LA on October 18 at 6pm.
