Discovery Schools’ Performance Scores Show Continued Academic Growth 

Kenner Discovery High School only “A” rated Kenner high school; Kenner Discovery and Dr. John Ochsner earn “B” grades


Discovery Schools Chief Executive Officer Dr. Patty Glaser is proud to announce continued progress in each Discovery Schools’ School Performance Scores (SPS) released by the Louisiana Department of Education for 2023.  Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy (KDHSA) and Dr. John Ochsner Discovery (DJOD) increased their SPS from 2022.


Kenner Discovery High School earned an “A” rating and is the City of Kenner’s only A-rated high school. Kenner Discovery (K-8) earned a  "B" rating. Kenner Discovery’s combination score is a "B." Dr. John Ochsner Discovery (K-8) earned a “B” rating.  


For 11 consecutive years, Discovery Schools have maintained an "A" or "B" academic rating from the state while serving a diverse population as an open enrollment school. Discovery Schools do not test students for admission and service all kinds of learners, those that are gifted and those that require extra support.


“I am very excited to report that Kenner Discovery and Dr. John Ochsner Discovery scored academically at a strong "B" level. Both schools have demonstrated excellence in student growth since the last school year. We are proud of our academic standing and consistent performance for over a decade, ” said Dr. Glaser.


Additionally, Kenner Discovery and Dr. John Ochsner Discovery were awarded the "Top Gains Honoree" designation by the Louisiana Department of Education, provided only to schools that show the highest levels of student academic growth across the state. 


The Kenner Discovery Maine campus (PK-4), Kenner Discovery Vintage & Loyola campus (5-12), Dr. John Ochsner Discovery campus (PK-8), and the Baton Rouge Ochsner Discovery campus (PK-4) are all part of the Discovery Schools charter network. Discovery Fusion, a hybrid virtual school, will open in August, 2024 and be added to the Discovery Schools charter network.
