[CharterSchools] NOMMA celebrates the Marine Corps JROTC award winners

NOMMA celebrates the Marine Corps JROTC award winners, as school year concludes    Thirty-five individual and group awards were given to cadets enrolled at New Orleans Military and Martime Academy recognizing their outstanding achievement in military drills, marksmanship, scholarship, and leadership during the 21-22 School Year, announced School Commandant Colonel Chris Schlafer, USMC, Retired.    “These cadets have worked hard throughout the year, have reflected our core values and have displayed the Marine Corps leadership traits to an exceptional degree,” the Colonel said.     The Outstanding Cadet of the year is Senior Cadet Major Cameron Kersey. New Cadet of the year is Cadet SSgt Jacelynn Boudreaux.    Every cadet at the 8-12 grade top rated public high school is a Marine Corps Junior ROTC member and works diligently to support NOMMA's mission of character development and academic excellence while upholding the high standards expected of them and their fellow cadets, added Senior Marine Instructor Colonel Patrick Kline, USMC, Retired    Among the organizations presenting awards were the American Legion, Military Order of World Wars, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Marine Corps League, Reserve Officer Association, American Veterans, Navy League, Sons of The American Revolution, Daughters of The American Revolution, Daedalian, Molly Marine Chapter of the Women Marines Association, Military Order of the Purple Heart, Knights Of Columbus, Fleet Reserve Officers, NCO Association, Military Officers Association, and Military Order of Foreign Wars.

New Orleans Military and Maritime Academy (NOMMA) is an “A” rated, open admissions public charter school serving the Greater New Orleans area.  NOMMA is both a Top Gains and Equity Honoree, boasting a 97 percent graduation rate and test scores that exceed state and city averages. NOMMA has a 100 percent student body participation in the Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (MCJROTC), and is a Naval Honor School due to superior performance of its MCJROTC program.  NOMMA has a rigorous college preparatory curriculum and offers career and technical training.  It is one of the top open-enrollment public high schools in the four-parish metropolitan area and exceeded both the city and state averages for ACT scores, AP exams, and LEAP 2025 assessments.
