IMPORTANT UPDATES FROM THE GREATER NEW ORLEANS COLLABORATIVE OF CHARTER SCHOOLS    Contact: C. Brylski (504) 460-1468 or cbrylski at aol.com January 7, 2021    FRANKLIN HIGH JUNIOR ANITA ZAHIRI FEATURED PRESENTER AT WORLD FOOD FOUNDATION GLOBAL YOUTH INSTITUTE    Anita Zahiri, a junior at Ben Franklin High School of New Orleans, presented her research on COVID-19 and food insecurity to the World Food Prize Global Youth Institute, from among 400 international competitors.     

Her research proposed an evidence-based solution to this issue in the United States. The symposium was held virtually and included a diverse group of internationally renowned World Food Prize Laureates and leaders in nutrition, agriculture, technology and international development. Former Vice President Al Gore was among those participating in the Institute with Ms. Zahiri.    The Institute will present her paper along with others to the 2021 United Nations Food Systems Summit. UPDATE REGARDING ENROLLMENT IN CERTAIN CHARTER PROGRAMS…Details on Westbank campus of ISL included    Jan. 15 is OneApp deadline for certain elementary charter schools in Orleans Parish              Parents seeking to enroll in language-immersion programs, or the Audubon Charter Montessori School-Uptown Campus, should be aware of a January 15 “early window” application deadline for the 2021-22 School Year, announced GNOCCS President Michelle Douglas.          The early window requires the OneApp application to be submitted for these schools:    FRENCH IMMERSION Hynes Lakeview, Grades 1 and 2 only Hynes UNO, grades 1-5 only International School of Louisiana (ISL) Camp Street, Grades 3 to 8 ISL Dixon Campus, Grade 2 only    SPANISH IMMERSION ISL, Camp Street, Grades 3 to 8 ISL, Dixon Campus, Grade 2 only ISL, Westbank, Grades 2 to 5    AUDUBON MONTESSORI (Uptown Campus), all grades.              Application information can be found at enrollnola.org about all New Orleans Public Schools. The general application deadline is January 29 for all other programs and schools in the OneApp system.
