The applicationdeadline is September 30. Scholarships will be $1,431 and applicants must be 18 years of age or older, and mustregister or be registered at a college, university, vocation or trade school. The scholarship grant is tobe used for study at an educational institution that normally maintains aregular faculty, curriculum and normally has a regularly organized body ofstudents in attendance at the place where the educational activities arecarried on. Application Guidelines 1. Please provide an essayof 500 words or less about a personin your life who has inspired you to continue your educational journey.2. Please provide two references from a school official,community member or otherwise trustworthy person who knows you, believes in youand believes in your educational goal. The Adult Education Center was a pioneering trainingcenter focused on integrating the New Orleans workforce from1965-1972. The Center provided innovativevocational training to 431 inspirational women whose African American graduateswent on to become some of the first black women to integrate multi-national andlocal businesses located in New Orleans. The mission of the 431 Exchangeis to support adult education and social justiceinitiatives throughout the country. Our programs include advocacy, fundraising,and a scholarship fund. The 431 Exchange was founded to honor the memory of theprogressive work done at the Adult Education Center, and to continue its legacyof adult education and social justice.
