Audubon Nature Institute Launches Virtual Educational Outreach Program

| Audubon Nature Institute's Education department will soon offervirtual outreach programs for children across the state. These virtual programs allow students to discover amazing animals with Audubon educators as they explore nature and science together. Each class is designed to last up to 45 minutes and will combine science topics aligned with Louisiana state science standards and live animal presentations. Students can interact in real time with educators and live animals through streaming video conferencing as they discover new things about the world around them. "Chevron is excited to help bring the Audubon AquaVan to online audiences across Louisiana," said Public Affairs Manager for Chevron's Gulf of Mexico Business Unit Leah Brown. "In a virtual setting, children will be introduced to an array of amazing animals and have the opportunity to ask the Audubon educators questions. We hope the experience will inspire within them a passion for learning, while also encouraging them to celebrate the wonders of nature. Chevron is proud to be a part of it." Thanks to the support of Shell, Chevron, and the New Orleans Pelicans, Title 1 schools in Louisiana are eligible for complimentary programming in the 2020-2021 school year. This includes up to one complementary visit to each K-8th classroom. Schools with Title 1 Targeted Assistance Programs will receive a 10% discount. Request a virtual education programHERE! |

   - Fur, Feathers & Fins (Kindergarten – 2nd Grade)   
Virtually brought to participants with support from Shell, sponsor of ZOOmobile.   
Explore the crazy world of animal coverings, coats, skins, and more.   
 
   - Oh, the things we eat! (3rd – 5th Grade)   
Virtually brought to participants with support from Chevron, sponsor of AquaVan.   
Learn about the different roles animals play in a food chain with animal ambassadors from Audubon Aquarium.   
 
   - Bayou-Diversity (6th-8th Grade)   
Virtually brought to participants with support from the New Orleans Pelicans, sponsor of Wetland Express.   
Students will spot biodiversity in action as they explore the rich ecosystem of Louisiana, including the interdependence of plants, animals, and humans.   
 
   - Doing a World of Good (All Ages - Great for scout groups, community groups or libraries)

| Audubon Zoo reopened on June 3, 2020, following a nearly three-month closure and Audubon Aquarium of the Americas reopened on July 16, 2020, following a four-month closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Following State and City public health directives, Audubon is reopening its family of parks and museums following a phased approach that strictly limits attendance and programming. Advance tickets to the Zoo and Aquarium are required and can be reserved here. ### |
