Benjamin Franklin High School’s Jodee Pulizzano Celebrates 900th Win
NEW ORLEANS (Oct. 6, 2020) –Legendary Ben Franklin volleyball coach Jodee Pulizzano, who is already marking her 30th year of coaching, celebrated her 900th win on Monday, Oct. 5, with a victory over Helen Cox.
Last year, Pulizzano’s girls, including one who signed to play volleyball for Southeastern, went to the state championship before falling to defending champions Teurlings Catholic.
“The volleyball program at Franklin could not be the same without Jodee,” says Audrey Mann ’21, who, in addition to her volleyball prowess, is the Student Council Vice President and just earned a perfect SAT score.
Kate Humphreys ’21, last week’s MaxPreps/American Volleyball Coaches Association Player of the Week, agrees: “She pushes us all to be better for each other, not just for ourselves.”
Although the celebration had to be scaled back due to COVID-19 restrictions and no fans in the gym, the girls and their parents still made it special with a banner, T-shirts, and pizza.
“Being a part of Jodee’s 800 and 900th wins means a lot,” says Maddie Meeker ’21. “Years of work have been put in to get this far. Many teams before ours have spent hours in the gym for us to be able to accomplish this together. It is amazing to have a coach who has built this family and volleyball tradition.”
Franklin will hold a virtual Admissions Open House on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2020, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and all interested families are invited to attend. Applications will be accepted starting on Monday, Sept. 28, 2020, at www.bfhsla.org/apply, and the first admissions test is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020. More details can be found on the school’s website at bfhsla.org/admissions.
