For Immediate Release Link to Photos of Students Below April 30, 2020                                                                                                                                                              Ten International High School of New Orleans Seniors Amass Total of More Than $25 Million in Scholarships Seniors Join Prestigious $1 Million Scholarship Club and Earn more than 1,000 College Acceptances    (NEW ORLEANS) – As most seniors are adjusting to new schedules, routines and online classroom experiences due to the COVID-19 crisis, 10 seniors at International High School of New Orleans have been busy working toward their goals of starting college in the fall. The 10 seniors have been aggressively pursuing scholarship and acceptances and their hard work is paying off to the tune of $25 million in scholarships and more than 1,000 college acceptance letters.     The IHSNO seniors have set a new record for the downtown New Orleans school when it comes to scholarships and acceptances. To date, student totals include:    
   - Ajah Dudley, $4.5 million
   - Hilary Lyons, $2.5 million
   - Diajelle Batiste, $3 million
   - Krysel Guerrero, $2 million
   - Ron Triggs, $3 million       
   - Gage Brown, $2.5 million
   - Vanessa Farinas, $2 million
   - Dajah Lee, $1.5 million
   - Genesis McPipe, $1 million
   - J'Lyn Wilson, $2.5 million
“IHSNO’s class of 2020 has faced unprecendented challenges during the Corona Crisis,” said IHSNO 11thand 12thGrade School Counselor Denise James. “But these seniors have set attainable goals and remaind focused throughout everything, and they’re seeing all of their hard work from not only this spring, but all four years of their high school careers, pay off in dividends.”    James, a 20-year high school counseling veteran, has been a leading force in the school’s college admissions process. Last year, the school’s top student, Antoinette Love, received $3.8 million in scholarships before choosing Eureka College in Illinois. This year’s IHSNO top scholarship students is Ajah Dudley who is on pace to receive more than $5 million in scholarships.    “I started applying in September, and just kept applying and applying until my tiny mailbox at home was suddenly overflowing with letter after letter and dozens of scholarship offers,” said Dudley who is a native New Orleanian looking foward to begin her college career this fall. Love’s mail carrier is still delivering letters and scholarships as she awaits responses from more universities.    “The hard work of these seniors and Ms. James is a testament to hard work and setting the bar very high,” said ISHNO Head of School Sean Wilson. “Every year our students are earning more scholarships and receive more college acceptance letters than ever, and this year’s class of 2020 has raised the stakes.”   About International High School of New Orleans The International High School of New Orleans (IHSNO) is a public, college preparatory charter school located in the Central Business District open to all Louisiana residents.
