REGISTER BY TOMORROW, APRIL 8FREE Daily Online Coding Classes for Grades 4th-8th in Orleans Parish Public Schools with Operation Spark


Operation Spark, a non-profit dedicated to changing lives by advancing technological skills in today’s students and adults, is offering a FREE daily live, online "Hour of Code" to Orleans Parish public school students in grades 4-8, beginning Monday, April 20. The course will meet for two consecutive weeks, Monday through Friday, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Registration is going on now through Wednesday, April 8. To ensure a spot for your child, go to https://bit.ly/opsparkhourofcode for registration. The minimum tech requirements are a laptop, desktop or Chromebook and a stable internet connection. During the online instruction, students will be introduced to design thinking and basic coding concepts through the use of Scratch, a free visual coding language developed by MIT Media Lab. “The program gives an introduction to the building blocks of software development and is designed for students with little to no prior experience in coding,” said Mayukh Raychaudhuri,Operation Spark’s Director of High School Programs. “Coding is cool! Our goal is to provide a fun learning outlet for students during this difficult time.
