   Hynes Charter School Receives an “A” School Performance Score    Recognized as Top Gains Honoree, Equity Honors, and Pre-K Excellence Honor Roll    Edward Hynes Charter School, the highest demand, non-selective admissions elementary school in Orleans Parish, has once again received an “A” School Performance Score from the Louisiana Department of Education.  Hynes maintained an “A” score and grew its score from 92.2 to 95.3, receiving an A for growth. Hynes was named a Top Gains Honoree for the improvement made by students on state testing. In addition, Hynes was named to the early childhood Excellence Honor Roll for its PreK program, with its early childhood program receiving an “A.” Hynes was also designated as an Equity Honoree for the advancement made by students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and received Equity Honors for being at 90 percentile or higher in performance for two or more subgroups (Asian, Black, Hispanic/Latino, White, and Economically Disadvantaged). “I am so proud that our school continues to demonstrate excellence,” said CEO Michelle Douglas. “It is because of our teachers’ tenacity and commitment that we make this annual progress: strong teachers drive student performance.  We are committed to continual improvement and will utilize our successful practices at both campuses.” Hynes Charter Schools serves two campuses in Orleans Parish. Hynes Charter School-Lakeview serves students in Gifted PK and Kindergarten through 8thgrade.  For the school year 2020-21, Hynes Charter School-UNO will serve students in Kindergarten through 1stgrade, adding a grade each year until K-8. Hynes has a SACS/CASI accreditation and offers a challenging academic curriculum that includes a progressive literacy program, gifted and talented courses, Junior Achievement and Project Lead the Way (PLTW). The Hynes  curriculum is enhanced by strong community partnerships with UNO, Hancock Whitney and Gulf Coast Bank.    Hynes offers classes in art, instrumental music, vocal music, library, theater and physical education. Art and social-emotional learning are integrated throughout the curriculum.
